Madang Province

Madang Province has been the epicenter of many iterations of Papua New Guinea culture as it was occupied by the Germans and the Australians during colonial times and was then occupied by the Japanese during WWII. With so much foreign history, you can still see traces in the cemeteries, which are filled with headstones carved with German and Australian names, and a peek underwater will show you sunken ships from the WWII.
