Accomodation
This is a luxurious lodge with just 14 guest cottages and one romantic honeymoon suite; as well as the first full spa on the Botswana safari circuit.
Rooms
Each of the 14 thatched guest cottages has two showers, one inside and one outside. The en-suite bathroom also has a large free-standing bath. After a day of game viewing, what better way to relax than in your own private garden with a cocktail? Or if the fancy takes you, why not have your gourmet dinner served right here under the African sky. Coffee stations are now available for guest use in the rooms.
Our new honeymoon suite at Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero features a private plunge pool and deck area where guests will be able to enjoy private dinners for two under the stars (weather permitting) and special turn downs every night. Guests booking this room will automatically receive a private vehicle and guide for all game viewing activities. Coffee stations are now available for guest use in the rooms.
Recreation
The main area at Chobe Chilwero is a rather rambling complex with a large and exceptionally elegant lounge. To one side is a small library where, along with a selection of books and board games, you'll find a big-screen television hidden discreetly behind cupboard doors. But in pride of place, with views onto the gardens and beyond to the river, is the dining room, where guests may eat either indoors or out on the covered veranda. In addition there’s a well-stocked curio shop, and a discreet 'communications centre', where WiFi – which only works in this part of the building – is available to guests. The entire lodge has the feel of an exclusive country-house hotel – quite a step away from the usual bushcamp/lodge feel that you get elsewhere.
A short walk from the main area, and behind the split-level pool, is a well-equipped spa featuring a wide selection of products and treatments from both the Thalgo and Africology ranges. While not for everybody, a half-hour massage at the end of a safari can be a very welcome treat.
Inspired by the abundance of nature that surrounds the lodge, the spa has drawn from that beauty to develop a range of treatments and rituals of the highest quality to relax, restore and revitalise guests. Authentic African design has been integrated with the natural elements surrounding this luxury lodge and the spa only uses products, treatment methods and practices that are environmentally friendly. Luxurious facilities include an indoor spa bath, Vichy showers, hydrotherapy, plunge pool, relaxation area and private treatment rooms, one of which is elevated in the treetops.
