Covering 17,000 km sq, the Okavango is the largest inland delta in the world, a mix of labyrinth chArtist - Kim Thompson, photographer - Steve Stockhallannels, palm fringed islands aArtist - Kim Thompson, photographer - Steve Stockhallnd fertile floodplains. Trapped in the parched sands of the Kalahari desert, it is a magnet for the wildlife who depend on the delta's life giving waters. More than 400 species of resident and migrant birds, lions, elephant, hyenas, wild dog, buffalo, hippo and crocodiles congregate with a variety of antelope and smaller animals - warthog, mongoose, genets, monkeys and bush babies to name a few.

Accomodation

Our stunning camp features eight large luxury en-suite safari tents on raised wooden platforms overlooking floodplains where elephant, zebra, buck and the birdlife can be seen by visitors from their private verandahs or even bed! Centrally there is a large well-appointed mess tent and tucked away, a private pool.As from 2013 Macatoo will also feature a new, tented ‘honeymoon suite' complete with a bath on a raised platform and a larger private deck on which newlyweds and celebrating couples can enjoy a very special private dining experience. Another new addition will be the ‘family and friends suite' consisting of two tents that are linked by a walkway and viewing deck above ground, to provide direct, easy access and peace of mind for parents, children and single travellers who are anxious about sleeping alone in the bush. Despite all the recent upgrades, the overall feel and look of Macatoo will always be preserved to provide our guests the most comfortable, authentic, unpretentious, safari experience that we can.
