Traditionally designed, the rooms are louvred, light and airy, and are decorated in an elegant and comfortable style focusing on the simple creature comforts of a comfortable bed, cotton linen, soft bathtowels and spacious bathroom. These rooms are situated to take advantage of the cool sea breezes and, in keeping with Nukubati’s carbon neutral manifesto, are not airconditioned. With no telephones or TVs to distract you, your attention turns to the surrounding pristine environment where you can relax, free of the noise and hectic pace of modern life. Dining

Nukubati is famous for its food. Seafood is our speciality, freshly caught off the resort, with tropical fruits and vegetables organically grown in our own gardens. Cooking style is Fijian, featuring traditional South Pacific recipes using all local ingredients, herbs and spices. However individual dietary requirements, such as vegetarian or no seafood meals are catered for.

All meals, morning and afternoon teas, and beverages (including wines and other alcoholic drinks) are complimentary. Meals can be taken in the Pavilion, on the beach, in your room or at any other romantic spot on the island you wish. Meal times are flexible.

Nukubati has an extensive wine cellar stocking premium Australian and New Zealand wines. There are two bars, one in the Pavilion and the other on the front lawn, and a bar service to all parts of the island!

All of our fruit and vegetable comes from our own organic garden

Organic Garden & Produce

Nukubati Island grows almost all its fruits and vegetables in its own tropical gardens. About 6 acres of the island is under organic cultivation.

The Nukubati Bar

A fully stocked bar, always ready with the next cold drink…. This is the great tropical tradition. Our friendly bartenders are always at hand to mix you up your favourite cocktail, grab you an ice cold beer or a fresh lime juice and send you back down to your deckchairs on the beach.

Recreation

Nukubati is a low to no activity destination, specialising in laid-back luxury and relaxation.

Book in for a traditional Fijian massage, take a leisurely stroll down the beach to find one of our hammocks, take a book from the library and relax in the shade, grab a cocktail from the bar and enjoy the cool breeze through the pavilion.

We have thought it all out so you don’t have to, just kick back and enjoy our famous Fijian hospitality.

Traditional Fijian Massage (BOBO)

The Fijian massage, called Bobo and pronounced “mbombo”, is a traditional healing treatment passed down from generation to generation. Within each Fijian village, in each generation, a few certain individuals inherit the abilities and skills of bobo. On Nukubati’s staff, we are fortunate to have three of these very special people available.

The Pavilion

The Pavilion is the hub of island life. This is where you can spend long lazy hours, out of the tropical heat, just enjoying the old world atmosphere of Nukubati. It is where people gather to eat, drink, socialise or simply sit and enjoy. There is a dining area where you can eat alone, or share a meal with other guests. The choice is yours.

The Nukubati Library

Nukubati has a library stocked withover 3,000 titles. While these days it is more common to find a guest with a kindle or an ipad than a book, we still believe in the sentimentality of the connection with the old world you can old get from reading a book you can touch and feel. Our library works on the honesty system of bookswapping – browse or swap your paperback with one of ours.

The Great Sea Reef

While Nukubati is a low to no activity destination, specialising in laid-back luxury, we do provide plenty of the adventure that Fiji and the South Pacific is renowned for.

The Great Sea Reef is the world’s third largest barrier reef, spanning more than 300kms. During your stay at Nukubati, you can explore the reef in a number of ways, from the very special and unique experience of scuba diving or snorkelling with the Nukubati Dive Team, to exciting trawling for the big fish on our sports fishing boat, or thrilling surfing at our offshore break (Surf season runs Nov-Mar).

Wedding

A wedding at Nukubati Private Island is truly an unforgettable experience, and we will be pleased to arrange your memorable legal Fiji wedding ceremony. Weddings are usually held at sunset on the beach or any one of a number or romantic locations on the island. Two Fijian warriors escort the bride to the groom; you also have the option of being transported by a Fijian wedding raft decorated with flowers. The warriors gently sail you to your waiting groom. A magical fairytale come true!

Wedding

The ceremony can be conducted by a civil celebrant or our local church minister, Father Charlie, and accompanied by a Fijian village church choir or the very popular Nukubati Serenaders. You may even choose to buy or hire traditional Fijian Wedding Costumes.

As good as it gets
