Accomodation
There are eight cottages at Borana. Four have large double beds and four have twin beds - both of which are queen size. Four of the cottages have their own veranda. Two sets of cottages share a veranda, both of which has a phenomenal view over the dam. Each cottage also has an open-fireplace lit every evening by the room stewardess; a basket of firewood is kept in each room. The bathrooms are the epitome of luxury: spacious, clean and with exceptional views over wildest Africa.
Rooms
Room Six has its own deck with a children’s room downstairs, below the deck - hence the ‘three quarters’. The children’s room is only suitable for small children (small beds!) but is very colourful. The rooms share a bathroom, upstairs adjacent to the parent’s bedrooms and it shares a verandah with Room Five - therefore ideal for a family of six.
Part of a double cottage with room 7. Large double bed. The most spacious room at Borana, with a huge bathroom overlooking its own plunge pool. Shared sitting/dining room with Room 7 making it perfect accommodation for guests travelling with friends or teenage children.
This cottage is quite far from the lodge down a steep set of stairs, which is well worth the trip to get there.
Dining
In the dining room at the main lodge guests can sample fresh produce from the Ranch, fresh juice from the Borana orchard and wines from around the world. In the sitting room, sofas and armchairs surround a huge open fireplace and picture windows guarantee a continuing vista to the plains below.
Recreation
Relax at the infinity pool or visit the ranch, go horseback riding, take a guided walk or go mountain biking. Guests can also visit the neighouring Lewa Wildlife Conservancy and see tons of different animals. Also there's night game drives that allow guests into the nocturnal life of the bush that is denied them in most of the parks. Borana is a spectacular environment in which to bicycle. Both fixed wing aircraft and helicopters can be chartered to give guests a bird’s eye view of the landscape around Mount Kenya.
