Renowned for some of the best food in Sri Lanka, The Sun House offers contemporary gourmet cuisine with a focus on the highest quality ingredients fresh from the local markets each day.
The cuisine is predominantly seafood with influences from Thailand, Sri Lanka, Australia and the Mediterranean. Our chefs are equally at home making some of the most delicious & innovative Sri Lankan curries, string hoppers and sambals. Meals are served in either the dining room, on one of the house’s airy verandahs or in the garden under the mango tree.
Dick’s Bar provides guests with a varied selection of excellent wines from France, Australia, Chile and Spain while spirits, cocktails and coolers can be enjoyed. Our barman have concocted a selection of local cocktails and our own versions of “tapas.”
Our newly opened Bamboo Bar and Grill specialises in al fresco dining in the main courtyard and hosts regular evenings throughout the year. It serves a simple menu of salads, soups and pies.
Recreation
At the Sun House our staff will assist you plan your days so that you get the most out of your stay in Galle.
Spend the day on one of the golden beaches along the coast. Unuwatuna beach is the closest large beach with a wide sheltered bay good for swimming and a clear reef for diving, Wijaya beach, Thalpe is a beautiful coral lagoon and it's safe for children.
The Sun House is the perfect spot to explore the area and most importantly relax, unwind and eat well. The following are some of the great activities to do during your stay at The Sun House; Walking tour of the historic Galle Fort, Mountain bike riding with guide, Whale and Dolphin watching from Merissa, visit the temples, the wild life reserves, the lowland tea estates, the rain forests.
Hikkaduwa, Weligama, Unuwatuna and Kirinda provide breathtaking snorkeling and scuba diving opportunities. A paradise of turquoise-coloured waters and abundant fish and coral life make an ultimate underwater experience. Bentota is an ideal place for water skiing, windsurfing & other water sports.
In recent years fashion boutiques and lifestyle shops have flourished offering original designs with a serendipitous accent. Galle and its environs are now well known for their eclectic collection of boutique hotels all offering their own versions gourmet utopia.
