Duong Lam is 50km to the west of Hanoi. The unique village, which was recognized as a National Cultural - Historic Relic, has houses which are around 200 years old. Of the nine hamlets within Duong Lam Village, Dong Sang and Mong Phu have maintained the most ancient houses: 441 and 350, respectively, among the total 956 traditional houses. The old Duong Lam Village is famous for its homes made of laetrile, a type of red soil. Most of these houses have their own courtyards surrounded by a laetrile wall.

Accomodation

As a small village, Moon Garden homestay has the traditional ancient houses,  house on stilt, and a Moon Garden hall. Ancient houses are Mango house,  Pomelo house  Frangipani house in  traditional style with 3 parts of living room and two bedrooms, and a smaller house with only one bedroom: Guava house. Why the houses are calling ancient house? Because tourists can find the traditional architecture features here. The roof  tile is Vietnam's traditional tile called shoe peak tile or dragon scale tile. The doors and almost the furniture are made from wood. The houses are decorated by distiches, all the furniture as tables, ottomans, beds are decorated by carving traditional pattern: lotus, peach blossom, phoenix and dragon. The windows have the circle shape that symbolize for conception of Yin and Yang. Especially, the Frangipani house has the Buddha altar with many beautiful Buddha statues: Bodhisattva statues, Maitreya statuse... In front of the house is a large yard where children can play traditional games. The yard has areca and betel trees that involve to a folktale in Vietnam. Moon Garden homestay also has a large garden with many kind of fruits and flowers as pomelo, mango, logan and many frangipani.

Franginany House

The largest ancient house in Moon Garden Homestay with 70 square meters. The house likes a model for traditional Vietnamese house where the guest can discover the Vietnamese architecture and culture. The house has one living room and two private bed rooms in two sides of the living room. The living room is divided into three compartments, the most important part is the center compartments where put the altar. Now it is setup Buddha altar with many statues: Bodhisattva, Maitreya… this is also the place to do the Buddha worship in the late afternoon. The roof of the house is imbricated roofing tiles that can harmonize the temperature: warm in winter and cool in summer. Almost the items in the house are made by wood: table, couches, mahogany, distich…

Guava House

A garden-view house with one king size bed and one private bathroom is in an average 45 square meters. This is the Vietnamese traditional house style with imbricated roofing tiles, wooden doors and pillars. The house’s adjacent pavilion is the ideal place for relaxing in the morning with a cup of green tea, and listening the natural sounds like bird songs ... This is the most suitable choice for couples who want to enjoy a private space.

Pomelo House

A Traditional House on terrace facing the rice field and lake with a large living room (46 square meter) and two private rooms (32 square meters each) with three bathrooms.Double or twin or triple can be set up in each private room and in living room with maximum 07 (seven) adults and 01 (one) child.Each house is a collection of traditional furniture and décor items: ancient wooden table and couches, mahogany, distich, lanterns, lacquers, wooden lotus vases and statues, circle shape windows presenting for Yin and Yang and with the following room amenities:

Stilt House

Stilt House or Pile dwelling is typical house of ethnic population lived in mountainous regions. This Stilt House was built up in 1987 in Mai Châu District, Hòa Bình Province and moved and preserved in our Moon Garden for the comfort guest house of 100 square meters large. The house has 9 (nine) shared rooms (double or twin) separated by curtains and four bathrooms. The house is adjacent to the rice field, lake and garden with the mountain view. It is very comfortable to breathe the fresh air and enjoy the beauty of Mother Nature.The house is a collection of many traditional patterns of ethic groups as brocade, wooden lotus in the crockery vase or “ruou can” (wine drunk out of a jar through pipes) and the following room amenities:

Moon Garden Hall

The very first Ancient Catholic Church built in 1846 in Thai Binh province is crafty restored as a special Hall in Moon Garden. The 200 square meters hall is with the capacity of serving over 60 guests indoor and 200 guests outdoor. Now it is not have any religious meaning but the place for holding events, teaching cooking class and serving meals.
